Arun Bharat Ram, Chairman of SRF Limited is an alumna of the University of Michigan, USA, from where he graduated in Industrial Engineering. Prior to that, after having completed his schooling from The Doon School, he went on to acquire Vor-Diplom from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany.
As Chairman of SRF Limited, Arun Bharat Ram is credited with turning his family owned multi-business organization into a world class conglomerate. Arun Bharat Ram serves as the Chairman of SRF Foundation that runs one of the largest community programs in the country, imparting education and vocational

training programs to underprivileged children and youth by improving infrastructure facilities in Government schools, promoting computer-aided learning, and through the digital inclusion of communities. The Foundation also works in the areas of creating awareness on issues related to health and hygiene, natural resource management. He is also the Chairman of Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi and The Shri Ram Schools, Delhi and Gurgaon.
A mid-handicap golfer and a keen musician, having learnt under the renowned maestro Pt. Ravi Shankar, he is an accomplished sitar player.

Chitrangada Singh visits B.R.A 5 Nov, 2018

The Diwali Bazar had ended and when the Blind Relief Association was just about to celebrate Diwali, came the visit of film star Chitrangada Singh.
Chitrangada Singh, a well-known film actor in the Bollywood industry celebrated this year’s Diwali with the trainees and workers of the Blind Relief Association on 5 November, 2018.
She met and interacted with the multi-skill trainees. The trainees exhibited their talents of singing, poetry and papier-mâché crafts. Chitrangada also tired her hand at papier-mâché crafts and candle making. She also interacted with the staff

and conveyed her appreciation for the work undertaken by the Association in providing and guiding the visually impaired.
“They (trainees) are such talented people and it’s a humbling experience for me. It is so encouraging to see how positive they are. I appreciate the staff and administration for their inspiration and kindness to do this,” she said.
Chitrangada Singh also mentioned that she has been to the Blind Relief Association’s Diwali Bazar many years ago when she was a student at Lady Shri Ram College.

B.R.A Trainees at International Storytelling Festival 16 Nov, 2018

The eighth edition of Kathakar International Storytelling Festival 2018 was held at Indira Gandhi National Center for Arts between 16-18 November. The trainees from the Blind Relief Association were invited to give one of the inaugural performances at the 3-day event.
The multi-skill trainees, trained by Foster and Forge Foundation narrated the stories उल्टा पुल्टा प्लेनेट, and ‘Once upon a Tree’ in teams. The gathering consisted
|
hundreds of visitors, school children and other artists.
The stories were developed in collaboration with Foster & Forge Foundation, and performed at the Association’s annual Diwali Bazar which gained a lot of appreciation from media and the visitors.
This opportunity at IGNCA gave an incredible exposure to perform in front of a huge gathering of story lovers.

Gold & Silver from Powerlifting Championship, Luxor 16 Nov, 2018

The Indian team comprising two weightlifters, accompanied by the General Secretary of Indian Blind Sports Association, Mr. A. David participated in the 13th Annual IBSA World Open Bench Press & Powerlifting Championships held between 10-18 November, 2018 at Luxor, Egypt.
Akshay Bidhuri, a Class XII student at JPM Senior Secondary School won two gold medals in bench press and powerlifting (under 56 kg weight category) and Ajay Birajdar studying Chartered

Accountancy in Pune won a gold in bench press & silver in powerlifting (under 75kg weight category).
To felicitate the medalists Akshay Bidhuri and Ajay Birajdar a ceremony was organised by Indian Blind Sports Association and The Blind Relief Association at Gandhi Hall on 20 November. Mr. Naresh Dhawan, President, Powerlifting India was the chief guest of the occasion. The medalists shared their experiences to inspire the boys of JPM Senior Secondary School.

Subodh Trophy 2018 20 Nov, 2018

Subodh Trophy, organised by the students of class IX of JPM School is an annual cricket tournament named after a former student of JPM who loved cricket passionately and died when he was still a student.
The twenty-fifth edition of Subodh Trophy Cricket played took place in DPS Mathura Road grounds from 18 - 20 July, 2018. Three teams from JPM school played for this trophy and the teams were led by Golu, Sonu and Mohit. The team led by Sonu and Mohit advanced to play the

finals held on 20 November at the new ground behind JPM Block in the Blind Relief Association. With 224 runs in 12.3 overs, the cricket team led by Sonu, Class XI emerged as winners and scoring 223 runs, the team led by Mohit Jaiswal of Class XII was the runners-up. The Man of the Series was Sunil Kumar in B1 category and Rohit Sharma in B2 category.
Cricket being the favourite game for most of the kids at JPM Senior Secondary School, the Subodh Trophy is one of their most exciting and awaited event.

A session with Karthik Sawhney 28 Nov, 2018

Mr. Karthik Sawhney, a visually impaired programmer in Microsoft, Boston visited the Blind Relief Association and interacted with the students undergoing ‘Introduction to Computer Science’ course.

Youth 4 Jobs, partnering with the Blind Relief Association started a pilot project in August 2018 to train the visually impaired adults on computers, communication and life skills. The 1st batch consists of 8 students who have completed school/ college or are currently pursuing under graduation through distance learning.
Mr. Karthik, invited by Youth 4 Jobs visited B.R.A on 28 November spoke to the trainees on the importance of college education, career prospects in the field of technology and the challenges that a visually impaired person faces. He also exposed them to the availability of accessible resources for education in computer science.
The future prospects of this meet are to bring a mentoring network of professionals in touch with the trainees and also arrange a session for the trainers in-charge.

Executives from HSBC, UK and India visit B.R.A 29 Nov, 2018

A 19-member team of senior executives from HSBC UK and India visited the Blind Relief Association on 29 November.
HSBC, Gurgaon has been in a partnership with Youth 4 Jobs in a 6-session mentorship program to the vocational trainees. While the 5th session took place on the 24 November, the team from UK who were on a visit to India, also shared in their experience.

exercise, where the visitors were blindfolded and led by visually impaired trainees within the premises of the Association.
Later the group split up and rendered volunteering services at the paper section, candle unit and the library. The group met with the Executive Secretary Mr. KC Pande and expressed their views about the visit. The group also gifted an audio recording device that was handed over by Ms. Ewa Kerin, Global Head FP&A, to Mr. Pande.

Farewell to two golden employees 30 Nov, 2018

Mrs. Santha Sreedharan, Accounts Officer and Mr. Kusheswar Kanti, Helper - Kitchen were given a warm farewell on 30 November, 2018.
Joining the BRA in November 1980 Shanta ji completed 38 years of service. Kusheswar ji, retiring on medical grounds, completed 21 years of service. On behalf of the Association both of them were garlanded and presented engraved silver salver as a memento along with a gift. As a token of their love and affection the staff members of different units presented gifts to both of them.
Speaking on the occasion, Executive Secretary K.C.Pande recalled the cooperation he received from Mrs.Shanta and lauded her for her remarkable efficiency and dedication. He also praised Mr.Kusheswar for his pleasing manners and hard work. Hony.Treasurer and Trustee Mr. S. K Mishra remarked that Mrs. Santha will be remembered for her professional

competence and ever- smiling face and Mr. Kusheswar for his hard work and loyalty to the Association.
Sharing sweet memories of her long service in the BRA, Shanta ji said “I spent more time here than with my family, and it became my second home”. She fondly remembered late Mr.K.N.Nair and late Pran Nath ji who had been like father to her, ever guiding and encouraging her. "The Association supported me greatly, even in my bad times after the injury. All my brothers and sisters here, lift the name of the Association to greater heights through your work," said Mr.Kusheshwar.
Mr.C.P. Mohanan and Dr. Swati Sanyal shared reminiscences with Mrs. Santha and Mr. Kusheswar. and the love and cooperation they received from them both as a colleague and as a friend. Their dedication and contribution will be remembered by the Association and ever cherished by the colleagues as a precious treasure.

Patriotic Song Competition 30 Nov, 2018

JPM School stood first at a patriotic group song competition held at Sarvoday Bal Vidhyalaya on 30 November, 2018. This was a state level competition organised by Directorate of Education.
11 schools from all over Delhi participated in this event and the JPM School boys
|

|
took the first place with their exemplary performance. St. Gregorios School stood second followed by Cambridge Foundation School.

Updates
- The Diwali Bazar that started on 29 October ended on 4 November, 2018. This year’s Bazar witnessed an abundant footfall and was covered widely by major media agencies.
- Under the chairmanship of the new President, Mr. Arun Bharat Ram the Board of Trustees Meet and the Annual General Meeting of the Blind Relief Association was held in the Association premises on 24 November.
- Childrens' Day celebration on 14 November at JPM Senior Secondary School
- A mock drill was held in the Blind Relief Association's premises on 29 November.
