Sneak a peek into the days of May at  B.R.A.

Sarod Recital                                                                                               4 May 2019

It was a morning of quietness with sweet Indian classical music ringing within the walls of Gandhi Hall at the Blind Relief Association, Delhi on 4 May.

The air filled with joy and calmness as the celebrated artiste Pt. Biswajit Roy Chowdhury played the sarod accompanied by Pt. Shoumitra Paul on the tabla. He played Raga Alahaiya Bilawal, Desi Todi and concluded with a short piece in Bairavi. Prior to the sarod recital Satyakam Mohkamsing, a student of Biswajit ji, played Raga Todi on violin,

with Divyanshu accompanying him on the tabla. Among the series of events to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of the Association, the music programme definitely set the mood for celebrations throughout the year.
 
The programme commenced with a Saraswati Vandana followed by melodious rendering of select verses from Kalidas’ famous poem Meghdoot set to music and sung by the alumni of the Association, Viabhav Shukla with Shubham Arya on the tabla.
Visit to Hindan Airbase                                                                          1 May, 2019
JPM School students of Class VI - VIII visited Hindan Air Force Station on May 1 and had first-hand experience of seeing a chopper and C17 globe trotter from inside. The Ex-principal of Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan Mrs. Mridula Pant felicitated the visit.
Braille Letters to the Motherland                                                       4 May, 2019
Seventeen students of JPM Senior Secondary School won cash prizes in the National Level Dhai Akhar Letter Writing Competition. Nikhil Srivastava, Ajay Gupta, Tushar Jindal & Shivam Kakkar stood first, second and third in the school respectively, while the other participants won consolation prizes. 
The competition was organized in JPM Senior Secondary School on 30 October 2018 by the Department of Posts on the theme 'Letter to my Motherland'. Students from classes VII to XII participated and wrote letters in Braille.
JPM Results - Class X & XII                                                                  7 May, 2019
Achievers are never afraid of the results instead they eagerly wait. So did the students who appeared for the Class X & Class XII examination from JPM Senior Secondary School.

All 17 students in Class XII passed in first division registering 100 per cent pass
results in the School and Abhishek Chaurasia topped with 92 %. All 20 students who appeared for the CBSE Class X examination also cleared in first division. Shashank Gupta, Shivam Kakkar and Sachin Kumar stood first, second and third in the school with 89.8, 89.7 and 84.3 % respectively. 
Dreams come true                                                                                     7 May, 2019
Joining the Multi-Skill Training course, the trainees at the Blind Relief Association may have not expected to pursue the school education that they missed. Yet, that is what the Association has been interested in and this year 14 trainees cleared Class XII and Class X exams.
The Multi Skill Training Programme is designed for visually impaired adults who either missed or dropped out of school education. In the one year programme, the trainees learn book-binding and paper crafts, candle-making, soap-making, chair caning, basic massage, sewing along with Braille literacy, spoken English, and computers.

10 and 4 trainees got through the CBSE exam of Class X and Class XII this year. Saddam scored the highest in Class X with 77. 4 %. A celebration was organised by the trainees on 30 May in sharing their joy and gratitude with the Association and Youth 4 Jobs Foundation.
Coaching classes for competitive exams                                       24 May, 2019
In a joint effort, The Blind Relief Association Delhi and Youth4Jobs Foundation started coaching classes to prepare the visually impaired youth for competitive exams. The endeavor aims to support youth who have completed Class X or above in appearing for competitive exams and thereby create more career options for them in the government and banking sector. 

The class has a present strength of around 25 comprising vocational trainees, computer trainees, trainees of Durgabai Deshmukh College and students from other institutions. The classes are held thrice a week and covers training on basic subjects such as English, Mathematics, Reasoning, General Science taught by Mr. Rajeev of Youth4Jobs Foundation. 

The Association would like to thank the staff of Mercer Consulting Pvt. Ltd. for rendering volunteering services by conducting cooking classes, wall painting etc.
