Sneak a peek into the days of July at B.R.A.

Five students give JLPT 7 July

Thanks to the enthusiasm of two ex-students of JPM Senior Secondary School: Ramdas Shivhare and Deepak Gupta, wishing to continue studying Japanese, the Sawaru Nihongo (Touch Japanese) Group emerged in 2019. The group now comprises school students and ex-students who are bankers, researches and college students. Five such students gave their Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) on 7 July this year. Deepak Gupta and Ramdas Shivhare appeared for N4 level while the other three, Sameer Khan, Gaurav Kumar, and Mohit Pandey appeared for the N5 level.

The Japanese classes were first organized for the students of the Association in 2012 with the help of volunteer teachers. Since 2014, Mrs. Itsuko Nandi, a veteran Japanese language teacher assisted by Japanese volunteers have been teaching the students .

The Sawaru Nihongo Group had five stunning volunteers who tirelessly, willfully and lovingly helped the boys prepare for the JLPT. The Blind Relief Association, Delhi likes to thank Ms. Himani, Ms. Naomi Frump, Mr. Yogesh Dayal, Ms. Anupreet Kaur and Ms. Uehara Yuuga.

Felicitation Ceremony for Delhi athletes 26 July

Six visually impaired Indian athletes qualified by the Paralympic Committee of India were favoured to participate in the World Para Athletics Junior Championship to be held in Nottwil, Switzerland from 28 July - 5 August 2019.

Manish Kumar, Delhi - 400m, 800m, 1500m

A pre-event felicitation ceremony was held at the Blind Relief Association (B.R.A), Delhi on 26 July and sports kits sponsored by Indian Blind Sports Association (IBSA) and the B.R.A were handed over to the athletes. Radhika Bharat Ram, Chairperson IBSA and Mrs.Benu Nath, Hony General Secretary B.R.A, along with the other officials of IBSA and the B.R.A. graced the occasion. The four athletes from Delhi along with the chief coach of IBSA Dr. Satyapal Singh were present.

Alumni Reunion 27 July

The alumni of the Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education had their first meeting on 27 July at Gandhi Hall of the Blind Relief Association, Delhi.

Over 50 alumni belonging to different batches came together for the reunion from various parts of the country. Dr. Swati Sanyal, Course Director greeted and interacted with the alumni. Also present on the occasion was Sri K.C. Pande, Executive Secretary of the Blind Relief Association.

The alumni currently working as special education teachers, bank employees etc. enjoyed sharing their reminiscences with the Blind Relief Association and Durgabai Deshmukh College. The alumni also shared their experiences at their workplaces and opportunities of employment for special education teachers.

Visit of Dr. Christopher Nwanoro 31 July

On 31 July, a four-member team from the Lotus Initiative for the Blind, Nigeria paid a visit to the Blind Relief Association, Delhi. This included Dr. Christopher Nwanoro - President, Mr. Maduagum Okechukwu - Director (Programmes), Mr. Emmanuel Ogar Ojung - IT Consultant and Mr. Mnamdi Mdu - Consultant. A trip around the campus and observance of the various programmes run by the Association greatly interested the team, to look for opportunities to collaborate.

Lotus Initiative For The Blind (LIB) is a non for profit and non-governmental organisation that caters for the need of persons living with disabilities in Nigeria and globally.The NGO was established in the year 2012, and has since been very keen towards improving the lives of people living with disability.

LIB has been actively involved in ensuring that the rights of persons living with disabilities in Nigeria, are not trampled upon in the area of the conduct of elections, provision of social amenities, accessibility to public buildings, provision of employment, empowerment programs, education and scholarship etc.

Prizes pile up for JPM School

The boys of JPM Senior Secondary School have been participating and winning in competitions across extra curricular activites conducted by the Directorate of Education in zonal levels.
