Annual Picnic

Annual Picnic

February 1, 2020 Posted by Blind Relief Admin Events

What a sight it is when you see parents, teachers, students, trainees, staff, volunteers, siblings and friends gather as one to celebrate that one thing which brought them all together.

An Annual Picnic of the Blind Relief Association means parks, music, games, food and a lot of love. It is the one time of the year when all friends and associates of the organisation gather in the winter sun. This year, we gathered at the Bhagwan Mahavir Vanasthali Park on 1 February.

As many may think, a picnic is not that small an affair for the Blind Relief Association’s. Six to seven buses are hired, to carry the all its students, alumni, trainees and staff from its campus to the park. In addition many other volunteers, and friends reach the venue directly. Lunch is prepared for more than 600 people, with special efforts for its famous halwa.

On reaching the spot, the crowd gets dispersed into smaller groups in all directions. While some play cricket, few others enjoy music. Few take strolls, while others climb trees. Some soak the winter warmth and chat, and there are still others playing in the slide.

This year, an additional special occurrence was a play put up by the trainees of Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education.

After a filling-lunch, it was time for music, when the staff, students and trainees came together to sing.

The day ended with more conversations, new friends, and happy faces.
