Baking Classes for Multi-Skill Trainess
When visually impaired persons can be good poets, intelligent teachers, excellent singers, then why not dexterous bakers?
The Blind Relief Association, Delhi introduced a new initiative in partnership with Youth 4 Jobs Foundation of bringing to the forefront, the baking skills of our trainees, on 17 January 2020.
A small kitchen was set up in the Blind Relief Association’s dining hall for the planned training. A gas stove, oven, groceries and cutlery have been purchased exclusively for the benefit of the trainees.
The kitchen was inaugurated on the same day, 17 January in the presence of Mr. K. C. Pande, Hony. Executive Secretary and Ms. Richa from Youth4Jobs.
Ms. Simran, from Youth4Jobs taught the a small batch of trainees on Day 1 to bake chocochip cookies and it turned out to be too good to be just the first attempt.
Two to three classes are conducted every week and the trainees have learned to bake cookies, cupcakes and muffins.
The trainees are grouped into smaller batches, so that everyone get’s a fair chance in practically baking and understanding every step of the process individually.
