Dr. Kohli, is a Member of the Blind Relief Association, Delhi. A Post-Graduate in Endodontics from King George Medical College, Lucknow, he is a Diplomat of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and a Diplomat of the Indian Board of Endodontics. He is the only dentist to have been given a rank of Hony. Brig. in Army dental core by President Sri A.P.J Kalam. He is also the only dentist to receive the civilian awards twice, Padma Shri 1992 and Padma Bhushan 2005. He was recipient of the prestigious B.C Roy National Award in 2007. Dr Kohli has been Hony. Dentist surgeon to Presidents of India for more than 20 years and has served as dentist to the Prime Ministers of India.

Besides authoring a book on Endodontics for UG and a book on AIDS, Infection Control for children, Dr. Kohli has published more than 40 papers in different National and International journals. He is presently editor- in- chief of the Indian Journal of Dental Research and a representative of Asia in world body of Endodontics IFEA.

Dr. Kohli has received more than 10 Doctorates from different Universities of the world and fellowships from all the three Royal College of Surgeons: Glasgow, Edinburgh and England. He served adjunct in Boston University.
