JPM Student wins gold & silver in World Para Athletics Junior Championship 2019
The Indian Para-Team won 23 medals at the World Para Athletes Junior Championship 2019 held at Nottwil, Switzerland from 1-4 August 2019. Eight of the 23 medals were won by athletes with visual impairment, trained and nurtured by chief coach Dr. Satyapal Singh of the Indian Blind Sports Association. Govind Kumar, a Class X student of JPM Senior Secondary School won a gold in Men’s Shot Put F11-13, U17 and a silver in Men’s 1500m T11-13, U17.
With 26 athletes, India had the biggest delegation in Nottwil and with 23 medals India ranked second in this second edition of the World Para Athletes Junior Championship 2019. The contingent participated under the banner of Paralympic Committee of India supported by Ministry of Sports.
The visually impaired athletes were felicitated by the Indian Blind Sports Association and the Blind Relief Association, Delhi on 07 August, 2019 in the premises of the Association.
