Sarod Recital
It was a morning of quietness with sweet Indian classical music ringing within the walls of Gandhi Hall at the Blind Relief Association, Delhi on 4 May.
The air filled with joy and calmness as the celebrated artiste Pt. Biswajit Roy Chowdhury played the sarod accompanied by Pt. Shoumitra Paul on the tabla. He played Raga Alahaiya Bilawal, Desi Todi and concluded with a short piece in Bairavi. Prior to the sarod recital Satyakam Mohkamsing, a student of Biswajit ji, played Raga Todi on violin, with Divyanshu accompanying him on the tabla. Among the series of events to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of the Association, the music programme definitely set the mood for celebrations throughout the year.
The programme commenced with a Saraswati Vandana followed by melodious rendering of select verses from Kalidas’ famous poem Meghdoot set to music and sung by the alumni of the Association, Viabhav Shukla with Shubham Arya on the tabla.
