Webinar on World Braille Day
Remembering Louis Braille on the World Braille Day, Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education (V.I.), along with the Blind Relief Association organized a webinar on Braille on 4 January 2021 at 11:30 am. The webinar was attended by around 70 persons.
The webinar kick-started with a welcome speech delivered by Mr. K. C. Pande, Executive Secretary of the Blind Relief Association. In his address, he welcomed the audience and stressed the importance of Braille even in the Digital Age. One of the two Resource Persons, Mr. Sansari Lal Sharma, an alumnus of the JPM School and Training Center for the Teachers of the Visually Handicapped (TCTVH – of the Blind Relief Association, Delhi) shared the life of Louis Braille and his invaluable contribution to the world. Later, Mr. Rajpal, an alumnus of JPM Senior Secondary School for the Blind and Supervisor of Diploma in Computer Education (V.I.) run by the Blind Relief Association introduced the audience to the emerging technology and its contribution to Braille through various new Braille software and devices. Mr. Yaswant Jadhav, an alumnus of Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education was the anchor of the webinar. It is noteworthy that the anchor and both the Resource Persons of the webinar are fully visually challenged. The webinar ended with a vote of thanks given by Dr. Swati Sanyal, Course Director of Durgabai Deshmukh Collge of Special Education.
